Advancing migraine awareness: Nordic Brain Tech joins EAN Public Brain Health Day
In recognition of Migraine Awareness Month this June, Nordic Brain Tech joined a European Academy of Neurology event highlighting the urgent need for better migraine understanding and care. Here’s what we learned—and why awareness matters more than ever.
June is Migraine Awareness Month, an important moment to recognize one of the world’s most disabling neurological conditions—and to reflect on what more can be done to support people living with migraine.
Last week, Nordic Brain Tech participated virtually in the European Academy of Neurology’s Public Brain Health Day, tuning in to an engaging session focused on headache and migraine. This event brought together experts, advocates, and clinicians to shed light on persistent misconceptions about migraine and to call for stronger collaboration across sectors.
Among the key messages shared was the need to move beyond the idea that migraine is simply “just a headache.” As speakers emphasized, migraine is a complex neurological disease that affects quality of life far beyond the pain itself, disrupting daily activities, relationships, and mental health. For many patients, stigma remains a barrier to diagnosis and effective care.
Experts also discussed how migraine disproportionately affects women, particularly around hormonal changes such as menstruation and menopause. Despite its prevalence—impacting over 1 billion people globally—migraine is often under-recognized and under-treated.
Panelists stressed the importance of better education for healthcare professionals and the public alike. While general practitioners may only receive a few hours of training on headache disorders during their studies, migraine is among the most common complaints they will encounter in practice.
Another topic that resonated strongly with our team was the promise of digital health tools—including apps and AI-driven symptom trackers—to empower people to understand their migraine patterns and make informed treatment decisions. As a company dedicated to improving migraine care through innovative technology, we see immense potential in combining evidence-based treatments with digital self-management.
At Nordic Brain Tech, we believe that awareness is the first step toward progress. Events like the EAN Brain Health Day help elevate patient voices and bring the scientific community together to tackle migraine more effectively.
This June, we invite you to join us in spreading awareness about migraine. Whether by sharing reliable information, supporting someone you know who lives with migraine, or advocating for better access to care, every action helps dismantle stigma and build a more compassionate, informed society.
Together, we can ensure that no one has to face migraine alone.
